Jim joined the Abeles and Hoffman team in 2016. As a principal, he is responsible for the overall operation and quality of assurance-related services, including audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed upon procedures for the firm’s clients. Jim serves clients in numerous industries, but primarily serves clients in the construction, manufacturing, real estate and professional services industries.
Prior to joining the firm, Jim most recently worked at local accounting firm for seven years as their Director of Assurance Services. During that time, he led the company’s assurance services practice and managed client relationships.
Jim considers himself the go-to person for technical accounting and auditing guidance. With nearly 30 years in the accounting profession, including unique experience in assurance-related activities, Jim’s expertise helps him address his clients’ most technical needs. Specifically, he once assisted a local fire district remediate Missouri State Auditor Findings by recommending and implementing internal control procedures. In addition, he executed budgeting and monthly reporting, which improved public perception, and helped the Board of Directors regain control of the district from the St. Louis County Circuit Court.
Jim was attracted to public accounting because of the professional development and technical learning opportunities the industry offers. Even after working in the private sector, he returned to public accounting and remains in the profession because he enjoys serving an array of clients across different industries to solve their problems. Jim attributes his success to hard work, persistence, and collaborative support.
Jim was born and raised in St. Louis. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family, listening to live music or talking walks on one of the nearby trails by his home in Wildwood.

Having worked in industry, both with a publicly held and a privately held business, I have a unique perspective on the type of issues CFOs and controllers face, which shapes how I approach client service.”
