Abeles and Hoffman welcomed Mary to its team during the early years of the firm.  As a partner, she manages accounts for business entities and individuals, including a full range of financial accounting and tax services for partners’ and shareholders’ income taxation.  Mary has many years of experience in federal and state income, as well as sales tax audits of businesses and high net worth business owners. She is the firm’s go-to professional for clients that have found themselves in penalty situations with taxing authorities and has been successful in obtaining penalty abatements totaling close to $2 million for one company group alone, among many others, in her tenure with the firm.  Mary also consults in the areas of due diligence reviews of buying and selling businesses, employee benefit plan services, client write-up services and financial consulting to a cross section of industries.  In addition, she plays a key role in managing the firm’s “outsourcing” department for those clients who prefer to outsource their bookkeeping and accounting reporting.

Over the course of Mary’s tenure with Abeles and Hoffman, she has developed sincere and long-lasting client relationships.  These relationships are built on a foundation of quality and timely service with the utmost attention to detail, in an environment of ever-changing tax and accounting rules and regulations.

In addition to her client duties, Mary assists with the management of the firm’s practice.  She is passionate about creating an environment within the firm that empowers the team to serve clients with the level of expertise and personal concern that she has by taking an active role in their personal growth.

Shortly after graduating high school, Mary was inspired to pursue a career in accounting while working as a secretary at a local accounting firm; she took evening accounting courses, encouraged and funded by a former employer.  As a result, she went on to pursue a degree in accounting.  Today she is trusted in the community and within the firm as a leader whose decisions are driven by a high degree of ethics, expertise and professionalism.

Mary currently resides in St. Louis with her husband and daughter.  In her free time, she enjoys boating and skiing at the lake, jogging, kickboxing and taking trips with family and friends.

As a trusted advisor, I view my clients’ businesses as if they were my own. I strive to gain their trust and confidence in me and our firm. I work hard to accomplish these goals by getting to know my clients’ specific and ever-changing needs and always making them feel as if they are the firm’s only account.
