Jacob Maret serves as a Tax Manager at Abeles & Hoffman, P.C., with a primary focus on trust, gift, and estate tax. He leverages his expertise to guide clients through the complexities of trust creation, estate planning, and tax compliance. Jacob’s professional journey began when he joined Abeles & Hoffman in 2017 as a Tax Staff member, progressing to Tax Supervisor before becoming a Manager. Prior to joining the firm, he spent two years at Deloitte LLP, working as an Audit Assistant and Senior Audit Assistant, where he honed his technical skills in auditing and accounting.
Jacob specializes in trust, gift, and estate tax matters, assisting families, business owners, and individuals with the navigation of estates and administrative trusts. He is dedicated to providing excellent client service by delivering thoughtful solutions to complex tax needs.
His passion for estate and trust taxation stems from a personal experience—after the sudden passing of his father, Jacob encountered the challenges of helping his mother manage a trust. Despite his CPA designation at the time, he lacked the specialized knowledge in this area, which inspired him to pursue further expertise in trust, gift, and estate taxation. Now, Jacob brings a deep understanding of these sensitive areas, offering personalized service to those going through similar experiences.
Jacob earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Economics (2013) and Master of Accounting (2014) from Saint Louis University. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA), and the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis. Additionally, he is a founding member of the Chaifetz Young Accounting Professionals Board, where he has served as both a board member and past chairman.
Jacob grounds himself in his Catholic faith and family life. He leads the Almonry of Ss. Gregory and Augustine, a ministry he founded at his local church, which provides spiritual and financial assistance to the needy. Jacob appreciates the simple pleasures of home life such as shared meals, gardening, and reading aloud as a family. He and his family enjoy the outdoors and have dreams of developing a family farm they acquired several years ago into a place of retreat and renewal for families and individuals. Jacob resides in Ballwin, Missouri, with his wife Stephanie, and their four children.
