Rachael joined Abeles & Hoffman in October of 2021.  In her role as a senior tax associate, Rachael is responsible for providing tax compliance and advisory services to her clients. While she is identifying her specialties, she is enjoying learning more about the particulars of the real estate industry and foreign income reporting.

She graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting in 2013.

Rachael and her husband, Tom, are both originally from Texas. They moved to St. Louis in 2016. They each have three siblings who live all across the country They have one sweet niece and another on the way. Rachael’s parents still live in East Texas and Tom’s parents have settled near Branson, MO. Though getting everyone together for the holidays is a challenge, they love having the opportunity to their family grow.

Finish my backlog of sewing/craft projects.

Indore, India for my sister’s wedding in 2013.

What is the most impressive thing you know how to do? 

I can recite pi to about 70 digits from cold memory, and over 100 with a little practice

What was the best compliment you’ve ever received? 

During the pandemic, several friends had their first child. I made many of them dolls, burp cloths, and baby bibs. One friend wrote me a note that the baby bibs I sewed for her were better than the store-bought ones she was given.

What accomplishment are you most proud of? 

Leaving the comfort of all I knew back in Texas and moving to St. Louis without a support system just a couple of years after college. It ended up being the best decision for me both professionally and personally, other than marrying my spouse.

What is your favorite smell? 

Crisp, cool morning air

If you had a clock that would countdown to any one event of your choosing, what event would you want it to countdown to? 

This was the closest I could get to a work-appropriate answer. . . all other ideas were a bit morbid.
The official end of Twitter. That way, I know how much more popcorn to make to last me through the end of the dumpster fire it has become.

When was the last time you climbed a tree?

Apparently, I am well overdue. The last known time was Easter weekend in 2014. My family went to Tyler State Park for an easy hike and geocaching. At some point, my sister and I had a competition to see who could climb the highest. I forget who won, but it was a really fun day.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? 

While it is common there, I had Paan in India. It is a mouth freshener and digestive made with betel leaves.

What was your first job? 

Lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? 

To be able to breathe underwater.
